Medicine has always challenged and excited Dr. Schmidt. He is especially interested in procedures involving the GI endoscopy of the stomach and colon. He was still a student at the University of Wisconsin when Dr. Morrisey was helping the Olympus Corporation design and modify industrial glass fiber endoscopes for medical purposes. Dr. Schmidt is a past officer of the United Pjepscot Housing Authority. He continues to be an active officer and has been contest director for many years in the Brunswick Area Modelers model aircraft club. His interests include design and flight of very light indoor rubber powered models that can fly for up to five minutes, as well as scale aircraft construction, aerodynamics, and radio controlled helicopter flight. An avid bicyclist, Dr. Schmidt tries to commute by bicycle all year long and has done so for more than 25 years. He has even been known to make house calls by bicycle!
