Specialty: Family Medicine
Unlike most of his peers, Dr. Worthing was led to the field of medicine after he had already established a family. He credits them with giving him support while he was in medical school, as well as providing a realistic base. The decision to become a family practitioner was based on the diversity of knowledge this offered in contrast to being highly skilled and specific in one narrow field. Dr. Worthing regards himself as having a conservative approach to medicine and strongly believes in preventive care, which he carefully discusses with his patients Dr. Worthing also has the unique distinction of being Brunswick’s “Town Fence Viewer,” a tradition that he says has been in his family for some time, though he rarely gets called upon to settle any community disputes. He is keen on learning as much as possible about Maine’s history, genealogy, and environmental issues. His other pastimes include restoring his 1939 Ford, boating, and fishing.
