A Ladies Home Journal article titled “ The best doctors for families- coast to coast,” published in May 2002, names Dr. Mahoney as “among those physicians most highly regarded by their peers.” Dr. Mahoney spent her childhood in Connecticut. While pursuing her undergraduate studies in aquatic sciences, she worked as a marine naturalist off the coast of Kittery on the Isles of Shoals. It was here that she met her husband, Nicholas J.K. Mahoney. A few years later, after switching careers to study medicine, the rocky coast of Maine recruited her again for residency training in Family Practice, and she has never left. In her current practice, she offers a wide spectrum of medical care to her patients. She places emphasis on caring for the entire family. She has special interests in woman's medicine, pediatrics, and breast feeding. In her free time, Dr. Mahoney and her husband love to pursue outdoor adventures. They have two young sons, Sean and Rhys, that she enjoys doing pastel portraits of, as well as painting landscapes in oil.
