Specialty: Family Medicine
Dr. Friedman, who was born in England, had always wanted to be a teacher until a speech by a visiting female doctor to her high school changed her mind. It was after graduating from medical school that she decided to center her training on Family Practice. After obtaining her medical degree in 1983, she went to Africa to work for a year. While there, she met her future husband, Douglas Friedman, of Connecticut. They married in 1987 and migrated to the United States in 1999, where she and her family now reside in Scarborough. Dr. Friedman is rapidly adapting to practicing medicine in the USA, having worked for several years in London’s busy and culturally diverse inner city. She finds the differences both challenging and interesting. Her second love after medicine is travelling. She and her husband recently took their nine-year old son, Daniel, on a five-month trip that included New Zealand, Australia, and Southeast Asia.
