Specialty: Pediatrics I knew I wanted be a physician ever since I began putting casts on my doll’s “broken leg” in grade school. However, it wasn’t until I did my pediatrics rotation third year of medical school that I realized my place was in Pediatrics. As the child of two teachers, I grew up understanding childhood was a vital time for growth, development, education, and health. In Pediatrics, I find I am able to combine these important issues by working with children and their families to establish healthy habits early in life though nutrition, exercise, and education. Whether providing preventative care to promote health or caring for patients with acute or chronic illnesses, I consider every encounter with a child as an opportunity to promote health. Becoming a mother myself has given me a world of insight into the issues parents face and has influenced my practice immeasurably. I believe early focus on parental education and support of healthy routines and habits is key to success in health and in life. My areas of special interest include breast-feeding, prevention, adolescent medicine, and developmental issues. I live in Brunswick with my husband Chris, daughter Hazel, son Felix and two cats. I enjoy cooking, jogging, reading and, most of all, playing outside with Felix, Hazel and Chris.
